On August 29 and 30, Encorps Winterguard welcomed guest clinician Dalton Stout to Calgary for a weekend of learning, movement, and connection.

With experience performing with the Blue Devils and Fantasia, Dalton brought a valuable perspective to our members and instructional team. Members from Evolution, Ensemble, and Expressions came together to develop their skills, explore new approaches, and challenge themselves ahead of the season.

The workshop was also an opportunity for our instructors to learn alongside their members, bringing fresh ideas into their own rehearsals. Providing shared learning experiences like this helps us grow across all three programs and strengthens our connection as one Encorps community.

Making the weekend free for registered members reflected something we care deeply about: giving our performers access to meaningful training while keeping participation affordable.

Of course, a weekend like this takes many helping hands. Thank you to everyone who supported transportation, meals, equipment preparation, setup, and cleanup. We also want to recognize our bingo volunteers, whose time and effort help make opportunities like this possible.

To our members and instructors, thank you for bringing your energy, willingness to learn, and encouragement for one another. And to Dalton, thank you for sharing your time, experience, and love of the activity with Encorps.

We look forward to building on what we learned—and welcoming Dalton back in January!
